Celebrating World Soil Day 2023

05 Dec 2023

World Soil Day 2023 brings into sharp focus the relationship between soil and water. Over 95 percent of our food relies on the well-being of these essential resources. Our soils confront unprecedented degradation, exerting immense pressure on water resources.

In this regard, the EU Mission "A Soil Deal for Europe" goes beyond being a mere commitment; it represents a tangible stride toward achieving a healthier soil for society.

World Soil Day 2023: NATI00NS and PREPSOIL

The objectives of the World Soil Day 2023 campaign align with the soil mission of the EU. Trust-It is deeply involved in the activities of the EU soil missions, especially in the NATI00NS and PREPSOIL projects. These two projects have come together for the World Soil Day to craft a set of impactful social media cards. Each card carries a crucial message about the interrelations between soil and water, the essence of sustainable soil management, and the urgent need for collective action.

Our role

Trust-IT serves as the Event Supervisor for NATI00NS, overseeing the organisation of two event rounds across 44 countries, blending hybrid, physical, and digital formats. Trust-IT also manages the helpdesk, monitoring user satisfaction and supporting capacity-building webinars. Additionally, Trust-IT collaborates with COMMpla for branding and online presence in both NATI00NS and PREPSOIL, ensuring a cohesive and impactful approach.

Trust-IT leads the "web portal, online community engagement, and training" Work Package in PREPSOIL. This involves developing and maintaining the PREPSOIL web portal, creating digital tools for stakeholder engagement, and establishing a Multilingual Knowledge Hub for accessible information on "sustainable soils."

This dual commitment positions Trust-IT as a key driver of both projects, providing comprehensive support and ensuring effective synergy between NATI00NS and PREPSOIL initiatives.

Additionally, Trust-IT will lead and boost the dissemination and communication activities in the upcoming SOILL project which supports, coordinates, expands, and promotes the creation of 100 Soil Health Living Labs and Lighthouses, in accordance with the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe”. This mission aims to pioneer, showcase, and accelerate the transition to healthy soils by 2030, supporting the long-term commitments at the European and global levels within the Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals.
