Contributing to the European and Global research data sharing landscape - Trust-IT Services and RDA Europe

Hilary Hanahoe, Trust-IT Services director and RDA Europe Project Coordinator, spoke at the two recent Research Data Alliance community engagement national events held in Barcelona, Spain (10 July) and Pisa, Italy (14 July) about the importance of national initiatives both for the European as well as for the global research data sharing landscape.

RDA Europe (europe.rd-alliance.org) is the European plug-in to the Research Data Alliance (rd-alliance.org). The goal of RDA is to accelerate international data-driven innovation and discovery by facilitating research data sharing and exchange. This is achieved through the development, adoption, and deployment of infrastructure, policy, practice, standards, and other outputs starting at grass-roots through the engagement of individual researchers and the communities they form.

The goal of the RDA EU research community engagement meetings has been that of introducing the RDA vision and objectives, showcasing activities, finding a common ground with different discipline or national initiatives and encouraging collaboration and participation.
