Business in Space Growth Network (BSGN): the European “one-stop-shop” for human spaceflight and robotic exploration commercialisation information

11 Mar 2021

Human spaceflight and robotic exploration are traditionally governed by space agency programmes, governmental funding and public R&TD. The emergence of the so-called New Space Economy in recent years has opened up the stage for new industries, both large and small to enter this stimulating sector, bringing new sources of innovation based on disruptive technologies, spinning-in terrestrial technologies and developing scalable business models, most notably in the satellite market.
To support the integration of the EU industry in the development of an economic market in (Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and beyond, ESA has already taken the first steps, back to 2016 when the commercial partnership initiative marked the beginning of the strategic expansion from institutional to privately-owned and privately-operated human-tendered platforms in Europe. Within this framework, today the Business in Space Growth Network (BSGN)  aims to provide necessary mechanisms for fostering the development of a market for use of human-tended platform in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) as well as lunar mission support services.

Trust-IT is delighted to have been selected by ESA European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), to support them in the design and roll-out of the web platform constituting the digital home of the BSGN. The project which kicked off this February 2021 discussed, amongst other aspects, a platform that will constitute the digital home of the BSGN, acting as the European “one-stop-shop” for information and resources relating to opportunities in the commercialisation of human spaceflight and robotic exploration
The contract is launched at a timely moment for the company as it reinforces, in 2021, both its resources and projects to fully support UX concepts, enhanced monitoring and performance methodologies to track user uptake in its various Research and Innovation and commercial contracts and it tackles conversion rate optimization (CRO) in a results driven way.
Just as the BSGN wishes to identify, understand, and activate new user communities in an effort to probe non-space markets for their potential to deliver scalable space-enabled applications, services and products, Trust-IT aims to aggregate more and more communities, turn them into avid and happy users in the multiple activities it carries out to help forge value propositions that are both useful and provide pay-back for the end-user.
The 28-week challenging project will help to bridge the gap between the science-oriented and capability-driven space sector and the product-driven non-space sectors which could use the space environment to boost their product development. The digital platform is considered key in raising awareness, communicating business opportunities, providing a rich variety of information, promoting success cases, engaging new stakeholders and supporting the development of new user communities to nurture the development of future markets in alignment with the aims of the BSGN.
Moreover, Trust-IT will take care of the platform conceptualization and development as well as of the definition of a Digital marketing and content strategy for the BSGN.
