Trust-IT Services has the pleasure of announcing that the website that it designed for the European Research Infrastructure Consortium (EPOS ERIC) has now been launched. The EPOS ERIC legal seat is hosted in Rome at the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) headquarter. The ICS Central Hub (ICS-C) is hosted in the United Kingdom (BGS) and France (BRGM) with technical operational support from Denmark (GEUS).
It has been a wonderful experience to collaborate with the EPOS team in recreating the main focal point of its online presence. The website, which features in-depth information about EPOS, EPOS ERIC and a large data portal, aims to be a central hub for its wide-spanning Earth Science community.
The web design process culminated with a complete re-design of the site. A mega menu, featuring a structure aimed at easy and intuitive navigation was introduced. The system for generating "parent" pages was improved and there is now the possibility to link dedicated content such as events, news, webinars and job offers through generating dedicated sections that act as internal mini-sites. The overall look and feel of the site have been refreshed, with modern graphics. This can especially be felt with the mobile experience when comparing to the previous website. On the backend, the CMS from version 7 to version 8 of Drupal has been updated.
The website content features a unique timeline to graphically explain the overall evolution, phases and milestones of the project. A unique structure and content types have been integrated into the EPOS ERIC section of the website, to highlight the difference between EPOS and EPOS ERIC. This section also features a unique members-only section, documents for download and sections for EPOS ERIC tenders and careers.
A complex, but integral part of the site is the services category, which includes mini-sites for each of its twelve Thematic Core Services - from Seismology to Multi-scale laboratories. The TCS is interoperable with EPOS’ Integrated Core Services, which is its novel e-infrastructure that aims to promote FAIR data management.
The communications category of the website is complete with rich content types that help to organise information on news, training, publications and more through an easy to navigate and visually appealing graphical structure.
Finally, the EPOS intranet can also be accessed via a menu bar. The EPOS intranet was also designed by Trust-IT as a part of another tender. It has been an honour for the Trust-IT to work with EPOS once again.
