Supporting research and innovation for AI applications in the secure, privacy-preserving computing continuum

We are moving towards the increased adoption of AI-powered smart applications and systems, where the implementation and governance of ethical AI practices will be pivotal in fully maximising market potential. Research and innovation plays a key role in supporting this transition, for example, by enabling the seamless design and partition of AI applications among the many cloud-based solutions and AI-based sensor devices.

AI-SPRINT is one such research and innovation action funded under the Horizon 2020 programme. As leader of communication, dissemination and impacts, Trust-IT  is helping to increase awareness around the benefits of AI in the cloud continuum, gather a community around key results and showcase innovative applications such as personalised healthcare, Farming 4.0, maintenance and inspection.

But it doesn’t stop here. Drawing on its broad experiences in cloud computing and more recently edge and AI as enabling technologies in next-generation networks, Trust-IT contributes to AI-SPRINT in diverse ways: as a co-author during the preparation of the competitive bid to a state-of-the-art analysis on standardisation along with support on IP management. Trust-IT is also guiding AI-SPRINT advances towards the marketplace by leading exploitation and helping to pave the way for a sustainable EU AI and Edge Alliance and Adopter Acceleration Club over the next few years.

On 30 November, Trust-IT kicks off the first in a series of webinars on the AI-SPRINT use cases, looking at stroke incidence in Europe with the Stroke Alliance for Europe and seeing first-hand the impacts of stroke with the president of the Spanish Fundacion Freno al Ictus with medical insights from “La Paz” University Hospital. Taking centre stage is the use case on personalised healthcare, led by AI-SPRINT partner from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, who will be talking audiences through the expected innovations.

Engaging your strategic community to ensure uptake of research solutions requires a structured approach, deep analytical skills and the design and implementation of communication and engagement plans built up of a mix of techniques and tools.
