UFCG - The Federal University of Campina Grande
The Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG) is a public university funded in 1952 and currently operates in 6 different cities in the Paraíba state of the Brazilian North-eastern region. It is structured in 28 departments organized in 8 centres, and has around 18,000 students enrolled in both undergraduate and graduate courses in all knowledge domains. In particular, the Electrical Engineering and Informatics Center has around 1,200 students enrolled in the undergraduate courses in Electrical Engineering and in Computer Science, and around 200 students enrolled in the graduate courses (Master and Doctorate) in Electrical Engineering and in Computer Science. Both the undergraduate and the graduate courses are among the best courses in the country, according to the Brazilian Ministry of Education, responsible for assessing the quality of the education at the University level in Brazil. UFCG is involved in many research and development projects, some of them involving international cooperation. These R&D activities are managed by UFCG's support agency Fundação Parque Tecnológico da Paraíba (PaqTc-PB). UFCG will lead the activites related to the quality of service cloud infrastructure in which an open and customisable framework is being developed providing automatic vertical and horizontal elasticity of computing and storage nodes and physical servers load balancing. Additionally, UFCG contributes to the project dissemination and outreach activities, to the Analytics and mining toolbox, to the entity matching for big data, and to the tasks related to requirements elicitation, characterization, modelling, prediction, use-case and application.
