The countdown is on for the ARCHIVER PCP tender

3.4 Million euros available for companies specialised in archiving and data preservation, cloud services and data management: on 29 January 2020 ARCHIVER launched its Request for Tender to provide R&D services to research communities in Europe, co-designed, co-developed and co-tested by the research community partnering with industry expertise. ARCHIVER will use the EC Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP instrument), one of the innovation instruments that the EC is offering, where the public research sector partners with the private sector to develop added value, close to market R&D services.

A story of collaboration to deliver research-ready commercial services dating back to 2005

Trust-IT is one of the core partners of the ARCHIVER project (archiver-project.eu), whose goal is to provide the broader research community in Europe a set of trustworthy scientific data repository services to allow them to better manage their data. These innovative services will be ready to be commercialised and will become part of the catalogue of the European Open Science Cloud, by December 2021. These services, ensuring the long-term preservation of FAIR research data are among the five types foreseen on the EOSC Strategic Implementation Plan.

Trust-IT began its first encounters with the “science cloud world” in 2005, picking up its collaboration with CERN. The clear benefits of cloud for research led to Trust-IT’s involvement with the Helix Nebula initiative in 2013 and and again in 2014 with the PICSE (Procurement Innovation for Cloud Services in Europe) Collaboration and Support Action (CSA). These earlier contributions to European cloud procurement eventually led Trust-IT to its involvement in OCRE (Open Clouds for Research Environments) and ARCHIVER activities in 2019.

Tenderers shall submit their bids no later than 31 March 2020 – 4:00 pm (Europe/Zurich time zone).
