EUDAT Conference 2022

On September 13-15, Trust-IT supported the EUDAT Collaborative Data Infrastructure in reviving its EUDAT Conference series, providing a platform for the latest Open Science enabling solutions.

The EUDAT Conference series was initially organised as the flagship event of the two  EUDAT EU-funded projects as a way to disseminate the project’s results. Now, the EUDAT Conference has been brought back in 2022, fittingly as the world opens up again for physical events following the COVID-10 restrictions.

Trust-IT was part of the programme committee that helped shape the content of the programme through EUDAT CDI Outreach Coordinator and Trust-IT Services Project Manager Rob Carrillo. The event was designed to be the event to see the latest open science enabling solutions with sessions such as: Research Data Management Challenges and Available Solutions, EUDAT Service Showcase & Developments Overview, Data Management Use Cases, and DICE Progress Highlights.

Among the technical contributions of Trust-IT that were highlighted at the programme was the launch of EUDAT’s new service catalogue, jointly developed with GRNET. The new service catalogue is now enriched with multimedia content such as brochures, factsheets, videos, and use cases while also having an improved user experience.

There was also a strong regional and local aspect of the event as the Greek General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, under the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and GRNET welcomed the participants. There was also a session on National and Regional Initiatives focusing on Balkan and southeastern Europe.

One of the new aspects of the EUDAT Conference is the Research Data Management Solutions Exhibition which saw 10 exhibition booths showcasing various services and tools for managing research data. Apart from the EUDAT booth which was designed by Trust-IT’s graphics and marketing team, booths for ARCHIVER, OCRE and FAIRCORE4EOSC were also managed by Trust-IT staff as communications leads for these EU-funded projects.

More than half of the sessions were made available for hybrid access which allowed both remote speakers and attendees to participate in Q&As.
