Clear your schedule on November 6th, from 8:30-18:30 CEST, as the Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences (IETcc-CSIC) will host the inaugural Z-ONA4LIFE "Conference on Zeolites: Advances in Synthesis and Applications", at their campus in Madrid.

This conference provides a platform for researchers, scientists, and industry professionals to convene and exchange knowledge on the latest advancements in zeolite research and applications.

Event background

Z-ONA4LIFE is a European Union project funded under the LIFE Programme dedicated to advancing circulatory within the aluminium industry through groundbreaking pilot-scale production of zeolites.

The Z-ONA4LIFE process is underpinned by an ambitious commitment to develop innovative technologies and sustainable practices that transform hazardous aluminium waste, or salt slag, into a value-added material called zeolites. Due to their distinctive properties, zeolites offer cross-functional applications across various industries such as water remediation, catalysis, detergent building, gas purification and concrete production.

Who should attend

Considering zeolites have the potential to serve multiple purposes in society, delivering an interconnected impact across sectors, this conference is seeking to engage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including industrial players, government officials, policymakers, researchers and the general public. The conference activities are designed to contextualise the zeolite landscape, raise awareness on the environmental and socio-economic impact of Z-ONA zeolites and pass on fundamental knowledge to a wide-range of stakeholders to bring visibility to the advancements being made in resource recovery.

What to expect

The conference agenda is comprehensive, with a structure of presentations and confirmed list of experts who will deliver in-depth analysis of the industrial applications of zeolites. More specifically, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain insights from leading researchers and industry professionals.
  • Network with peers and collaborators in the field of zeolite research.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in sustainable zeolite technologies.

Role of Trust-IT

Trust-IT is one of the six participating partners in the Z-ONA4LIFE consortium. Beyond leading WP6, which includes developing an effective communications strategy and the dissemination and exploitation of project results, Trust-IT also supports EU policy and market analysis, KPI monitoring and the evaluation of overall impact.

At the event specifically, Trust-IT is part of the organising committee and responsible for the all-encompassing pre-event promotional activities, including coordinating with speakers, attracting attendees, social media awareness and providing necessary technical and material support to ensure the execution of the event.

Additionally, Rita Giuffrida, Project Manager at Trust-IT Services, will present on-site on the topic: "EU Sustainability Policies: A Critical Analysis of Zeolite Synthesis from Waste." The presentation will highlight key recommendations from the blueprint "Filling Sustainability Policy Gaps in the EU context: a Critical Analysis of Zeolite Synthesis from Waste", which was led by Trust-IT and authored by the Z-ONA4LIFE consortium. This work focuses on the innovative applications of Z-ONA zeolite and their potential to shape policies related to the Green Deal.
