KT4D Webinar: Navigating Research Ethics and Managing Sensitive Data in Complex European Projects
The Knowledge Technologies for Democracy (KT4D) project investigates the power of Knowledge Technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data to reinforce democratic values and increase civic participation in Democracy. As these knowledge technologies have become effectively interwoven into society, KT4D’s research is addressing the cultural barriers and power dynamics resulting from rapidly changing AI and Big Data, designing tools and guidelines to address potential ethical, legal, and cultural risks.
The focus of this webinar is to expand on the KT4D experience in applying research ethical best practices and pseudonymisation, an essential data processing operation for projects where human beings are directly engaged as research subjects.
Navigating this landscape of ethical research guidelines without sacrificing innovation can be difficult for researchers. Multi-stakeholder projects with complex objectives, audiences, and goals, such as those funded by the Horizon Europe programme, can create challenging conditions for researchers to ensure data privacy best practices are upheld.
This webinar seeks to educate and provide expert advice on how researchers can manage sensitive data and protect the privacy of research participants while still fostering innovative research in an ambiguous regulatory environment.
