The 4th Destination Earth (DestinE) User eXchange was held on 25–26 June 2025 in Vienna, Austria, alongside the European Space Agency’s Living Planet Symposium (LPS), one of the world’s leading events for Earth observation.
Organised in a dedicated space within the LPS venue, the User eXchange brought together a diverse community of users, from researchers and developers to policy experts and institutional stakeholders, to exchange ideas, provide feedback and explore the latest developments from DestinE. The event focused on how DestinE supports the transition from scientific observation to practical climate action, in line with the LPS 2025 theme: “From observation to climate action and sustainability for Earth.”
Through a combination of presentations, live demos, and interactive sessions, participants had the opportunity to connect directly with the DestinE team and service providers, helping to shape future developments based on real user needs. As the initiative continues to grow, these User eXchanges remain a key mechanism for ensuring that DestinE evolves as a collaborative, demand-driven platform with concrete societal impact.
Trust-IT’s Contribution to Communication and On-Site Support
Within the DestinE Project, Trust-IT is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the official DestinE website, destination-earth.eu, as well as the coordination of editorial processes across the three entrusted entities (ESA, ECMWF, EUMETSAT) and the European Commission. Trust-IT also contributes to DestinE’s communication strategy through graphic design, multimedia production and event support activities.
In preparation for the 4th User eXchange, Trust-IT managed a targeted social media campaign via the official DestinE LinkedIn page, aiming to build awareness and engagement ahead of the event. During the Living Planet Symposium, the team provided support at the DestinE stand, contributed to communication efforts on site, and produced video materials to highlight key moments. These activities helped strengthen the initiative’s visibility and ensured a consistent message throughout the event. The contribution focused on enhancing DestinE’s presence and ensuring that users, stakeholders and the general public remained informed and engaged.
Looking Ahead
As climate challenges intensify, clear and accessible information is essential. Destination Earth plays a key role in turning complex environmental data into actionable insights. Ongoing communication and user engagement, including web, content and event support, are critical to making the platform visible, usable and impactful.
Thus, continued efforts in this area will ensure DestinE remains a trusted resource for building a more sustainable and resilient future.
