Trust-IT is pleased to announce an upcoming webinar titled “Navigating Ethical Challenges in Local Government: A New Toolkit for Inclusive and Responsible Policy and Programming,” taking place on November 21, 2024. Organized by the University of Warwick and the University of Cape Town, this event will introduce the Ethics in Policy Deliberation Toolkit, an innovative resource specifically designed to support ethical decision-making in local governance.

The focus of the webinar will be on presenting this new toolkit, which equips policymakers with the tools to navigate complex ethical challenges that arise in the policy deliberation process. From poverty alleviation to urban development and environmental risks, the toolkit offers practical guidance on how to incorporate ethical considerations into every stage of policy formulation.

Participants will hear from leading experts including Professor Keith Hyams and Dr. Morten Byskov from the University of Warwick, and Dr. Gina Ziervogel from the University of Cape Town. Additionally, a member of the Risk and Resilience team at the Cape Town City Government will share insights from piloting the toolkit in Cape Town, demonstrating how it has shaped their policy-making approach and enhanced programming outcomes.

The webinar will also provide a unique opportunity for attendees to ask questions and explore how the toolkit can be adapted to their own national and policy contexts. This interactive discussion will highlight how the Ethics in Policy Deliberation Toolkit can improve local governance by promoting more inclusive, equitable, and responsible decision-making processes.

This event is essential for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners seeking to implement ethical frameworks in their work. Trust-IT, proud to support such impactful initiatives, is excited to help bring this vital resource to a wider audience.
