BioDT School and Hackathon
Building Digital Twins: The BioDT experience
Join the BioDT School and Hackathon and become the pioneer of the Digital Twins Research!
We are excited to invite you to the BioDT School and Hackathon, which will take place from March 3-7, 2025, at the heel of the Italian Peninsula—in Lecce, Italy. This unique event is designed for students, early-career researchers, and professionals interested in unlocking skills in digital modelling and learning about the latest innovation practices in biodiversity.
Whether you are new to the concept of Digital Twins or looking to deepen your knowledge, this is the perfect opportunity to engage with leading experts and learn how digital twins are developed, especially through the lenses of BioDT use cases.
What is BioDT?
The Biodiversity Digital Twin (BioDT) project is at the forefront of creating Digital Twins (DTs) for biodiversity. A Digital Twin is a virtual model of real-world entities and ecosystems, enabling detailed simulation and analysis. BioDT uses cutting-edge technologies like High-Performance Computing (HPC), FAIR data principles, and open APIs to model biodiversity in unprecedented ways. This approach helps predict biodiversity trends, inform conservation strategies, and support sustainable development.
Trust-IT
Trust-IT leads WP2, "Communication, Dissemination, Sustainability and Impact," overseeing project communication, dissemination, and sustainability activities. As part of this work package, the team is responsible for event management and has played a key role in shaping the school and hackathon concepts and leading promotional activities.
Why attend the BioDT School and Hackathon?
This five-day event offers four days of intensive learning followed by a one-day Hackathon. You will dive deep into the BioDT project and gain hands-on experience developing Digital Twins.
Who Should Join?
The BioDT School and Hackathon are open to anyone interested in learning about Digital Twins and their application in biodiversity research. Whether you are a student, a researcher, a developer, or simply a biodiversity enthusiast, this event will provide valuable skills and experiences to help you contribute to the future of digital biodiversity modelling. Given its programme structure, the hackathon is only able to include a maximum of 20 eligible students.
Upon webform registration, selected students who apply by 17 January 2025 will have their travel, lodging, food, and programme expenses covered. Students who apply after 17 January 2025 are still welcome to submit their applications; however, there may be restrictions on the coverage of travel and lodging expenses.
Please note that only the selected students will be informed upon registration form evaluation.
