Brief description
HSbooster.eu II is a 36-month Horizon Europe initiative continuing the European Commission’s support to research and innovation projects in transforming their results into contributions to standards. Building on the first edition of HSbooster.eu, the project provides structured, expert-led services to help projects understand the standardisation landscape, identify relevant standards development organisations, and define realistic pathways for engagement.
The initiative responds to a recognised challenge for European research and innovation: while many projects produce results with standardisation potential, engaging with technical committees, working groups, and standards development processes can be complex, resource-intensive, and difficult to approach without specialised guidance.
HSbooster.eu II offers support across different stages of the research and innovation cycle. Its services include proposal-stage guidance, mentoring for projects seeking to map their standardisation opportunities, and more advanced support for projects ready to engage directly with standards development activities. The project also maintains and further develops the Training Academy, supporting researchers, innovators, and standardisation experts with accessible knowledge resources and capacity-building opportunities.
By strengthening the link between research results and standardisation, HSbooster.eu II contributes to the valorisation of European research, supports the visibility of research outcomes in standardisation processes and the recognition of standardisation for academic progression.
Our role
Trust-IT Services coordinates HSbooster.eu II, continuing the role already carried out in the first edition of the initiative. In this capacity, Trust-IT brings its experience in managing European research and innovation projects, delivering booster-type services, and supporting communities of stakeholders working at the interface between research, innovation, and standardisation.
Within HSbooster.eu II, Trust-IT leads the overall project coordination and the communication and dissemination work package, ensuring that the initiative reaches the projects, experts, and organisations that can benefit from its services.
Impact
HSbooster.eu II builds on the first edition of the initiative, ended in 2025, which supported almost 300 research and innovation projects across Europe through expert services, training resources, and practical guidance on standardisation. The new phase broadens the scope of support, extending eligibility beyond Horizon Europe to include nationally funded research and innovation projects and other relevant European programmes.
The project is expected to increase the capacity of research teams to identify standardisation opportunities earlier, engage more effectively with standards development organisations, and translate research outputs into concrete standardisation contributions. Its services support projects from the proposal stage through to more advanced participation in technical committees and working groups.
