Brief description
SNS-ICE is a coordination support action which is building a collaboration environment for European and global actors involved in the preparation of 6G smart networks and services (SNS).
It supports the SNS Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) in presenting, leveraging, and positioning their activities and achievements in major European and global fora. The project works at a global level with other regions, where 6G activities are planned and ongoing. Key standardisation activities are also monitored, and main roadmaps and trends will be communicated back to the SNS JU projects.
The project also seeks to align activities across the landscape by establish dialogues at a European level between peer Horizon Europe Partnerships, national initiatives, research and development clusters, etc., targeting the exchange of information, plans and priorities.
SNS ICE also monitors the development of solutions and their early adoption by the verticals industries as it engages vertical industries in identifying their requirements and promoting the SNS JU solutions to them.
Our Role
Within the context of SNS ICE, Trust-IT's role involves consolidate and expand the 5G vertical ecosystem by leveraging partnerships with various vertical associations and incorporating new sectors. Such efforts implies to map and track vertical associations, creating a collection of use cases and new vertical needs translated into requirements for SNS research and standardisation inputs through position papers and policy documents. Key use cases produced by the SNS R&D community are also regularly updated through a Vertical Engagement Tracker online platform collecting use cases and new verticals and translate them into requirements for SNS research activities and standardisation inputs. Such communication links also contributed to the organisation of joint activities, such as workshops, webinars, and whitepapers, promoting the SNS JU and influencing vertical industries. Finally, Trust-IT is also in charge of drafting the exploitation plan mapping SNS ICE KERs.
Impact

- Present, leverage, and position SNS JU activities and achievements in major European and global fora.
- Work globally with other regions to promote SNS JU results, exchange trends and ideas, and achieve global consensus.
- Monitor key standardization activities and communicate main roadmaps and trends back to SNS JU projects.
European Dialogue: Establishes dialogues among European Horizon Europe Partnerships, national initiatives, and R&D clusters to exchange information and align plans. - Engage with key vertical industries to identify their requirements and promote SNS JU solutions, fostering early adoption of 6G solutions.
- Organise workshops at international events like 5G Techritory and EuCNC, and provide presentations at international and European conferences.
- Communicate outcomes to the SNS JU community, ensuring research and innovation activities are aware of global 6G progress.
- Contribute significantly to securing Europe’s leading role in defining, providing, and exploiting 6G solutions.
Results
- Constituency building in Europe and establishment of dialogues, stakeholder support, support to key European cooperation events, dissemination, definition of future R&I actions.
- Established dialogues with peer Partnerships, e.g., HPC, KDT/Chips JU, AI, Data and Robotics, Photonics Europe and associations, e.g., 5GAA, 5G-ACIA, ECH Alliance, ERTICO-ITS Europe, ECSO and organization of dedicated workshops to ensure relevance and synergies in both directions.
- Increased engagement of diverse vertical sectors to better integrate their individual requirements
- Establishment of a continuous dialogue among the key actors in Horizon Europe programme and those in the other regions programmes to reinforce collaboration and increase synergies.
- A mapping of the European 6G KPI to the 6G indicators of the other global regions and global consensus building on 6G KPIs and indicators based on European KPIs
- Creation of policy document addressing key gaps and requirements within the European 5G/6G ecosystem.
