SEEBLOCKS.eu, the 24-month EU-funded project, recently made its mark on the international stage at the IEEE COMPSAC 2024 conference in Osaka, Japan, held from 2-4 July 2024. The project hosted its first non-European workshop, "Blockchain Nexus: Bridging Innovations and Standards for Tomorrow's Digital Frontier," showcasing the European voice in blockchain standardisation to a global audience.
Collaboration with IEEE Underscores Importance
The workshop, co-organised with IEEE, a prominent Standards Development Organization (SDO), focused on how blockchain can support the future digital society. From a competitive field of nine submissions, four outstanding papers were selected for presentation, covering topics ranging from legal perspectives on blockchain to innovative applications in MedTech and the Internet of Vehicles.
The project's participation in IEEE COMPSAC 2024, which saw 400 registrations from participants worldwide, underscores SEEBLOCKS.eu's dedication to fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange in the rapidly evolving field of blockchain technology.
Diverse Topics Spark Engaging Discussions
The SEEBLOCKS.eu workshop generated significant interest and discussion, particularly around the MedTech applications and the comparative analysis of blockchain standardisation in Europe versus the USA.
As part of its commitment to promoting blockchain innovation and standardisation, SEEBLOCKS.eu team from Trust-IT Services conducted interviews with each presenting author. These interviews, along with a full recording of the workshop, will be made available online in the coming weeks.
Last Call for Expert Funding Applications
In line with its goal to advance blockchain standards, SEEBLOCKS.eu is calling for final applications for its fourth Selecting and Engaging Procedure (SEP) for blockchain and DLT experts. With just five days left until the July 22, 2024, 17:00 CEST deadline, eligible individuals from EU Member States and Horizon Europe associated countries can still submit proposals for long-term, short-term, or one-shot contributions to blockchain standardisation efforts. The program offers grants ranging from €3,000 to €10,000 to support activities such as participating in SDO working groups, contributing to standards documentation, and attending key events. This funding aims to ensure European interests are represented in global blockchain standardisation initiatives. Applicants must demonstrate expertise in blockchain/DLT and standardisation experience. Don't miss this opportunity to shape the future of blockchain standards and potentially secure up to €60,000 in cumulative funding.
