About EOSC-CONNECT
EOSC-CONNECT (Connecting National Nodes to the EOSC Federation) is a Horizon Europe project that will strengthen the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Federation by supporting the development and connection of National Nodes across 14 European countries. These nodes will act as national entry points to EOSC, helping researchers access and share data, services, computing resources and other research outputs across countries and disciplines.
Over 30 months (1 September 2026 – 28 February 2029), the project will address the technical, legal, organisational and sustainability challenges linked to building a distributed EOSC Federation. It will also improve key federating capabilities, test them through real research use cases and demonstrators, and support the onboarding of additional resources from third-party providers. The experience gained will contribute to a reusable National Node Blueprint and to the wider development of EOSC policies, standards and interoperability frameworks.
Trust-IT’s role in EOSC-CONNECT
Trust-IT will lead key activities on stakeholder engagement, dissemination, exploitation and Financial Support to Third Parties. This includes managing the project’s Open Calls and supporting third-party providers in bringing new data, services and other resources into the EOSC National Nodes.
Trust-IT and COMMpla will also coordinate outreach and communication activities around the National Node Blueprint, project results and lessons learned, while engaging with the wider EOSC community and related INFRAEOSC initiatives. Their work will help strengthen collaboration across the project, increase the visibility and uptake of its results, and support their longer-term exploitation and sustainability.
Expected impact
EOSC-CONNECT will help accelerate the development of a more connected, sustainable and interoperable EOSC Federation. By supporting National Nodes and improving the way resources can be shared across borders and disciplines, the project will make it easier for researchers to discover, access and use data, services and computing resources across Europe.
The project will also provide practical guidance, technical solutions, business and legal models, and recommendations that can be reused by other EOSC Nodes. Through training, consultations and engagement with the wider EOSC community, EOSC-CONNECT will support the long-term uptake of its results and contribute to the future evolution of the EOSC Federation.
Funding
EOSC-CONNECT has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101288616, within the Research Infrastructures programme and the topic HORIZON-INFRA-2025-01-EOSC-01 “EOSC Nodes with federating capabilities for the EOSC Federation”.
