Brief description

SWForum (European forum of the software research community) supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, raised awareness and strengthened the competitiveness of the European Software Industry by creating a self-sustainable online forum that facilitates and encourages both researchers and practitioners as well as projects in software technologies, digital infrastructure and cybersecurity to create intersections of expertise and a multidisciplinary approach to research and innovation. The forum sought to set in place the European research roadmap and offer cross-fertilisation of competencies to all other research and innovation areas.

SWForum.eu worked to enhance the visibility and increase the competitiveness of research and innovation in the field of software technologies, digital infrastructure and cybersecurity, especially European funded Research and Innovation Action (RIA) projects. Moreover, the project aimed to introduce best practices and technology transfer opportunities to cross-synergise European excellence.

Our Role

Trust-IT led the activities related to communication, dissemination and development of all branding, graphics, web development and community engagement. Trust-IT designed and implemented the online platform and online forum, growing the SW community. Trust-IT also supported consortium partner UOXF in the market readiness assessments, and contributed to the generation of the research roadmaps and in the engagement of end users and industry to help support the Policy dialogue in strengthening EU excellence around software engineering.

SWForum.eu project officially launched in October 2020 in a virtual consortium meeting. To learn more about the project visit www.swforum.eu

Impact

The SWForum.eu project aimed at improving the cross-fertilisation of the European software-related community across sub-domains, ranging from digital infrastructures -including cloud- to mission-critical embedded systems -including transport-, and in particular among the European funded projects, leading to a strengthening of European competitiveness in software.

Moreover, it strengthened the uptake of open source in the European software industry, further reinforcing European leadership and competitiveness in this area.
