Brief description

Between July 2019 and December 2022, EOSC-Pillar coordinated national Open Science efforts across Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and Italy, ensuring their contribution to and readiness for the implementation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The work of EOSC-Pillar consisted of seven areas, focusing on specific aspects of the project.

Our Role

Trust-IT led Work Package 2 on dissemination, outreach, and community building. These goals were achieved by providing full-stack support from the development of the communication and dissemination strategy, to its implementation through website and social media channels, the organisation of events such as workshops and webinars, the development of an online consultation platform, and the design and production of communication materials. The communication kit including the project logo and materials designed by Trust-IT is available online

In September 2019, Trust-IT collected interviews from key actors and Work Package leaders and published them as videos to be employed throughout the project’s online channels.

Among other things, Trust-IT organised a webinar in April 2020 on the results of the project’s survey on national initiatives, offering an overview of the current landscape in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, and Italy concerning such topics as EOSC and FAIR data principles. The recording and presentations of this successful webinar (more than 170 participants) are available here

Trust-IT also provided interactive data visualisation on the first results of the survey, which can be seen at this link.

Thanks to Trust-IT’s experience and enthusiasm, EOSC-Pillar successfully led collaborative efforts between EOSC regional projects on communications and events. This collaboration  resulted in several successful outputs, such as a collection of position papers on EOSC, and a joint online workshop at the EOSC-hub Week 2020 (attended by more than 140 people), focusing on policy developments supporting the development of EOSC.

Impact

The EOSC-Pillar project aims at having the following impacts:

  • The EOSC became more sustainable through the contributions of national initiatives.
  • EOSC-Pillar countries recognised as key supporters of Europe's move towards open science.
