Brief description

widerAdvance Facility (WIDERA) aims to reduce disparity in innovation across Widening and Outermost European Regions by supporting and emphasising research outcomes from identified regions while seamlessly aligning with the existing frameworks and tools laid out by the European Commission. It will be both a supportive platform and a comprehensive learning environment for researchers, research management entities and tech transfer specialists to ensure those geographical areas disseminate and utilise their research breakthroughs across Europe through networking events, synergies, training modules and dissemination/communication activities. WIDERA counts with National Contact Points (NCPs) and local partners to further spread from these regions, maximise the pathways towards objectives and ensure the sustainability of the actions, as well as make impactful contributions to policy-making at local/ national and EU level.

Our Role

Trust-IT will coordinate the training provision to individuals/institutions from widening and outermost regions on dissemination and exploitation activities, open science, IP management, technology and knowledge transfer, standardisation, and pitching.

Impact

WIDERA will increase science and innovation capacity for all actors in the research and innovation (R&I) system in widening and outermost regions, in order to allow structural changes leading to modernised and more competitive R&I systems in eligible countries. It will also allow higher participation success in Horizon Europe and more consortium
leadership roles, as well as smoother reforms of R&I systems and institutions to increase the attractiveness and retention of research talents. To conclude, WIDERA will also support these regions in creating stronger links between academia and business and improving career permeability, strengthening the role of the higher education sector in R&I, and allowing greater involvement of regional actors in the R&I process.
