Brief description

Human spaceflight and robotic exploration are traditionally governed by space agency programmes, governmental funding and public R&TD. The emergence of the so-called New Space Economy in recent years opened up the stage for new companies to enter the sector, bringing new sources of innovation based on disruptive technologies, spinning-in terrestrial technologies and developing scalable business models, most notably in the satellite market. 

Trust-IT was selected in 2021 in a public tender by ESA European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), to support them in the design, development and roll-out of the web platform constituting the digital home of the Business in Space Growth Network (BSGN) web platform, acting as the European “one-stop-shop” for information and resources relating to stimulate demand in support of the development of a commercial market for services and applications in Lunar Earth Orbit (LEO) and beyond.

Our Role

Trust-IT Services was charged with the full process of web platform development, following a rigorous UX design & development process: from interviews with stakeholders and end-users, through the definition of the website personas as well as wireframing and mockup prototyping, to development, and from content creation to usability testing. The project encompassed the following macro-activities:

• Design and development - This phase included website requirements gathering and information architecture (IA) definition, including top-level and secondary menus, taxonomies and content categories. The website graphic design was also part of this phase, including wireframes, user workflows and mock-ups.
   
• Validation - Moderated usability tests with target end-users have been organised to gather insights and then improve the website to meet end-users' needs.
   
• Content management and upload - Content types, including taxonomies, categories and tags management, have been realised in order to address the dissemination & communication activity to the right stakeholders, organising the content among the different sections of the website.
