Brief description
As data becomes the new fuel of the economy and a key asset to address most societal challenges, the EU needs to invest in the creation of a seamless, secure, sovereign, and sustainable continuum of data collection, storage, and processing beyond the central cloud.
Next-generation edge computing and data technologies and infrastructures must not only be developed but also deployed and adopted by European organisations to enable the European single market for data and a Europe fit for the digital age. However, the speed of technology change is so fast that industry stakeholders are struggling to adapt to a multi-cloud infrastructure environment and to deal with the paradigm change created by a Cloud-Edge-IoT scenario.
The European Cloud, Edge and IoT Continuum Initiative (EUCloudEdgeIoT)’s vision is to realise a pathway for the understanding and development of the Cloud-Edge-IoT Continuum by bringing together and making cooperate, on one side, a wide range of research projects, initiatives, and suppliers of such infrastructures and, on the other side, the businesses and potential adopters of this new technological paradigm with the ultimate goal to contribute to the definition of the large-scale pilots envisaged by the European Commission.
EUCloudEdgeIoT is a joint effort of two Coordination and Support Actions (CSAs), namely Open Continuum, focussed on the supply side and UNLOCK-CEI, focussed on the demand side. The two projects work in coordination to reach the stated common goal, also by benefitting from the synergies and legacy of other existing EU projects in the domains of Cloud, Edge, IoT, AI, and connectivity
Our Role
Trust-IT is the Communications, Dissemination, and Engagement leader of UNLOCK-CEI, the CSA focused on understanding the market needs and industrial requirements for the development of the Cloud-Edge-IoT Continuum. We will contribute to achieving EUCloudEdgeIoT’s mission by applying our expertise in the following areas:
Plan for dissemination, exploitation, and communication
For UNLOCK-CEI, we have designed and implemented a coordinated communication and dissemination strategy running throughout the lifetime of the project in coordination with the overall strategy for EUCloudEdgeIoT, managed via a set of dedicated Task Forces. The main objective is to create awareness about the work and results of the project and to raise awareness of the current and future Cloud-Edge-IoT demand-side landscape
Development, hosting and maintenance of a public website
Development of dissemination material and activities
- Creation of the project's recognisable branding
- Creation of informative roll-up banners, flyers, and posters
- Institutional videos production
- Physical events video coverage
- Video interviews with the consortium members
- Videos per vertical sectors.
- Workshops, webinars, impact events, and online forums organisation
- Social media community management and engagement
- News articles creation.
- Newsletter creation and management.
Community Building
Based on the activities described, we further leverage various communication channels and tools (website, social media, newsletters) to reach out to a series of stakeholders who can become an important asset to the project. The community built so far counts over 50 Research and Innovation Actions working on various aspects across the computing continuum, as well as many companies and industrial representatives
Impact
EUCloudEdgeIoT has promoted the establishment of a global and open ecosystem for the Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies by supporting industries and researchers to create impact, engaging relevant industrial alliances in actions directed toward open approaches.
Results
The initiative has established coordination mechanisms across various projects in the form of Task Forces bringing to the consolidation of an engaged community. The UNLOCK-CEI project specifically has contributed with detailed analyses and insights on value chain dynamics, spotlight use cases and trends in five key industrial sectors, namely manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, energy and mobility. Vertical impact events have been organised and success stories have been produced to share the most relevant innovations in this evolving field
Funding
The project has received funding from the EU’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement no.101070571.
